ABOUT Michael Higgins, PsyD


Michael Higgins, PsyD, earned his doctorate in I. O. Psychology with specialization in Criminology and Justice Studies in 2016.  Dr. Higgins has additional formal education with a Master of Science in Management (MSM), graduating Magna cum Laude, from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2006, Bachelor of Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University 2004, and an Associate in Law Enforcement from Columbus State Community College 2000.

He has served in the Army and Air Force in enlisted and officer positions for a combined 30 years in both active and reserve status prior to retiring in in 2014.  He retired as a commissioned Law Enforcement Officer with the State of Ohio in 2013; he is a graduate of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy.   He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Dr. Higgins has specialized training in EMDR and given his background has a passion for working with First Responders and their families.  Additionally, he has an interest and experience in helping teens and adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and relational concerns.
